During the spring months in the Desert Southwest, cactus flowers emerge from their spiny homes to decorate the landscape. These flowers range in color from brilliant whites to the deepest purples. Many flowers last for anly a few days in the hot desert sun, blooming late at night and closing during the midday heat. Sunrise is the best time to photograph these delicate blooms. Finding patterns in the petals of the flowers and the arrangements that the plant displays is a welcome change from the usual desert subjects we photograph.
